Born: Holton, Kansas, 1920
Died: Lawrence, Kansas, 2010
Mr. Sudlow has long been recognized as the quintessential Kansas landscape painter. His paintings explore both the character and spirit of the light, land, space and atmosphere of the central plains. Mr. Sudlow made his first lithographic print in 1979 and had produced a total of 36 original editions.

Artist Statement
“While I have painted from Greece to California, I think Kansas has given me the most delighful problems, I heartily dislike Mid-Western summers. Where else can one find at least five weathers in a single day? I now realize the world as a kaleidoscope of change. Nature has an order quite beyond formulas. Painting out of doors has been a release. It seems my only way is to let go and to celebrate this mysterious prescence and changefulness.”
